Govt. Barriers Hurt Biz Opportunities

Government Padlocks Prevent Access to a small Albuquerque Business: The entrepreneurial fortitude and ability to adapt to a changing economy is what New Mexico and our country needs. A great example is seen in an Albuquerque small business, Old Town Farm. They have successfully diversified their business efforts from equestrian to farming and now offer food and services to bikers along a popular Bosque trail. A great story of free enterprise at work until the bureaucratic red tape and regulations of government interfered.

The New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) believes government regulation should provide for general safety and fairness in business practices, but allow free enterprise to operate effectively in job creation and strengthening our economy. In the ongoing Old Town Farm case, the complete opposite happened with a government agency literally padlocking an access gate to this business. . . an access gate that has been used for 37 years. Businesses Feel Effects of ACA: Months into the full Affordable Care Act, business owners are being forced to find ways to keep the doors open and many have had to reduce benefits or drop coverage altogether. Albuquerque Business First released several stories recently to include one business owner’s pointed response. See the article HERE.
