RPNM Ignores Defamation Issue – Forces Lawsuit

Through my attorney, I asked the RPNM to retract its false and baseless allegations, and to apologize. I also asked them to make the “irrefutable proof” they claimed to have about my involvement in the anonymous comments public within five days. Instead, the RPNM requested several time extensions, all of which I granted with the understanding that they would issue a retraction and apology. I finally set a deadline of Dec. 30 and made clear that if they failed to respond, I would have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit in order to protect my reputation. The RPNM made no effort to respond other than to demand another 30-day extension of time and claim in the media that they had made “exhaustive” efforts to resolve our “dispute.” This made their true intentions clear, and left me no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit yesterday.

I issued a brief media statement to explain my position, which you can view HERE. Among other media outlets, KRQE covered the issue and their story can be viewed HERE.

Many of you have offered tremendous support, knowing that the allegations RPNM made were outrageous and false. Thank you!

Please let me know if you have questions, as I have nothing to hide. On the other hand, you might want to ask the RPNM to make public the ‘irrefutable proof’ they claim to have relied on to make their false claims about me. Maybe they’ll respond better to you than they have to me.

My best,

Carla J. Sonntag
