NM Legislature Moving Forward on Mandated Wages

Raising the State Minimum Wage from $7.50 to $9 per hour passes a committee yesterday with ‘Yes’ votes from all Senators:SB 386, sponsored by Sen Clemente Sanchez would raise the state minimum wage to $9/hr beginning July 1 of this year. While other business groups testified in committee to support increased mandated wages, NMBC opposed. The bill was passed on to the next committee unanimously by the members of the Senate Public Affairs Committee. Read more HERE.

Doing What is Right – Not What is Popular: NMBC will continue to oppose mandated wages and advocate for more free market opportunities. The latter, we believe, is the solution to improve our state’s outlook for jobs and quality of life for all New Mexicans.
