Illegal border crossings still an issue for local communities

Illegal border crossings in the southernmost areas of NM remain high in number and costly to border communities. Other issues, like the lack cellular service, reduced numbers of border enforcement officials, and disrepair of border fencing where there should be substantial barriers are leaving ranchers and towns along the border to fend for themselves.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration remains adamant that border enforcement and improvement should be a priority for the federal government and not be financed by New Mexican taxpayer dollars. In the meantime, vulnerable ranchers at the border argue this shouldn’t be a partisan issue, they deserve safety for their families and way of life. Read more HERE.
