New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) has grown over the past fifteen years into a formidable, outspoken advocate for pro-business public policy and increased private sector job opportunities for New Mexicans. One of the key elements of a brighter future is great businesses that provide the jobs, products and services that improve the quality of life for all New Mexicans. NMBC is glad to profile some of those businesses: This week we feature Kurt Nelson and his business, Palette Contemporary Art & Craft.

Palette Contemporary Art and Craft began business in late 2003 with its one and only global “Bricks and Mortar” location being in Albuquerque, NM.

Hailing from the Midwest, and having made a dozen moves in his life, owner Kurt Nelson graduated with a business degree, way back when, and had been involved in Sales, Marketing, Management, and Training, be it industrially or in the pharmaceutical field, prior to opening his gallery.

Our gallery, an oddity in the Land of Enchantment, offers artwork and design within the Contemporary and Mid-Century Modern marketplaces. We exhibit pieces with clean lines and abundant color. The “world is our oyster” as we are by no means limited to representing the artwork of local artists.

Palette displays original paintings, limited edition prints, international art glass especially, clay, and wooden sculpture. Jewelry is offered as well as other items typically not found in art galleries such as mostly Mid-Century, Radios and Watches. The latter two items meet the prerequisite gallery design intention, and most importantly, function correctly.

Over the years, Palette has participated in many art shows outside of New Mexico including SOFA Chicago (Sculptural Objects and Functional Art), the Los Angeles Art Show, and Palm Springs Modernism. Our next out-of- gallery show will be “Objects of Art” to be held at El Museo at the Santa Fe Railyard from TH., 8-10 thru Sun.,8-13-23. Click HERE for further details.

We invite all New Mexico Business Coalition Members, and family and friends, to our next gallery event which introduces Ginnie Baer’s “Between Here and There” (abstract landscape paintings) to Albuquerque with her opening and reception on Saturday, 7-22-23 from 1-4PM. View the invitation HERE.
