Lumber prices have skyrocketed, home prices are way up, and so has the need for skilled labor such as electricians, plumbers, and HVAC workers, just to name a few.
The article in the New Mexico Sun states, “It’s a national concern.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 739,200 jobs for electricians existed in the U.S. based on 2019 projected data, with an 8% change in job outlook, a much faster turnover than the 4% average growth rate for all occupations.”
NMBC is not the only organization that has proposed New Mexico schools seize on this opportunity to educate our students in the trades. These jobs pay well and our state and economy need a boost from high paying jobs that are readily available.
