Monday, May 31, Memorial Day 2021, American citizens remember the men and women of courage, who bravely fought on our nation’s behalf, defending our liberty, and lost their precious lives doing so. Today, we offer our gratitude for their sacrifice. We will never forget the price they paid for the freedoms we enjoy, for our way of life, and for this great country. Thank you!

NMBC was so moved by this video tribute produced by Hillsdale College that we wanted to share it with you. Click Here to View.

As we gather this weekend with family and friends at parks and backyard barbecues let us remember the true purpose of this day, we must not forget that our freedoms are not free – they are the legacy of heroes and patriots and the inheritance and responsibility of all Americans.

Our duty, then, is to honor our fallen servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great Nation. NMBC asks that we all take a moment to reflect on the legacy of those who gave their lives preserving the freedoms of this great nation. We must never forget the sacrifices made by every generation of Americans in every conflict, and we must never forget the sacrifices of the patriots we have lost.  Accounts of courageous actions from every battlefield on which our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen have fought are permanently etched into our nation’s history – shining emblems of valor, selflessness, perseverance, and ingenuity – embodiments of the heroic fighting spirit and devotion to duty that our nation has come to expect of her heroes in times of crisis.

Reflecting on our fallen brothers and sisters who have paid the ultimate price, especially during this challenging and unprecedented time, affords us an opportunity to renew our resolve that no crisis or conflict will overwhelm the American fighting spirit. Let these heroes remind us of the determination and uncommon valor that remain hallmarks of our great nation and people. Take time this holiday weekend to also recognize the families of our fallen whose continued sacrifice we honor with gratitude and respect. Stay safe this holiday weekend and remember you are a living memorial.

“…And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice.” Ronald Reagan
