Taking away our money: Thanks to historic business and individual tax cuts at the federal level, the economy is performing near or at its peak potential. In fact, 304,000 jobs were added to the economy in January.

Unfortunately, in New Mexico, some elected officials are moving in the opposite direction with numerous tax increase bills like HB 6 Tax Changes which is on the fast track to the Governor’s desk. With only one committee assignment in the House, this bill will skip the legal review in the Judiciary Committee and head straight to the House floor after Wednesday’s vote in House Tax and Rev.  It only takes 30 seconds: Tell legislators to VOTE NO on HB 6 HERE.
You can follow HB 85, HB 6 (and other bills NMBC feels is important) by watching our 2019 Bill Tracker HERE. Just hover over the “Bill Tracker” link and choose which sheet you want to look at.

Now, for some good news in manufacturing: National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President is named CEO of the Year. As the state affiliate for NAM, Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) has experienced first-hand the strong and consistent leadership from NAM CEO Jay Timmons. “It’s no surprise and well-deserved for Jay Timmons to be recognized as CEO of the Year,” said NMBC President Carla Sonntag. Read more HERE.

Manufacturers staying on the cutting edge: Manufacturing will become even more high-tech in the future as manufacturers look to stay agile to deal with changing geopolitics and shifting consumer demand. Read more HERE.
Do robots take or add jobs: Some are suggesting that adding automation systems to the manufacturing sector could, in some cases, add jobs as well as improve factory productivity. Read more HERE.
