San Juan County considers infrastructure improvements to boost development

NM Legislators and San Juan County officials have long discussed the need for economic diversification in the northern most New Mexican county. Currently those same officials are deliberating on the possibility of building a heavy haul road or railway to stimulate economic development in the Four Corners region. Having the infrastructure to transport goods and the abundant resources from San Juan County to larger markets is seen as the largest obstacle to economic development of the region 

“We’re not going to have large development without addressing this issue,” said NM Economic Development Department General Counsel David Matthews. But the details of rail vs road, and where the route would be built are still undetermined. Read more HERE.
