There’s additional support on the way for Bernalillo County businesses still struggling from the effects of the shutdown. On Tuesday the Bernalillo County commission voted unanimously to use $5 million of the county’s federal CARES act funding to provide grants of up to $10,000 to county businesses and non profits with less than 50 employees. The county program will be prioritizing the requests for businesses that have not received other federal funding or assistance like the Paycheck Protection Program.
The Bernalillo County commission received $32 million in federal grant funding from the CARES acts. In total this county business grant program will aim to help 500 businesses and nonprofits throughout the county and use around 15% of the money given to the county by the federal CARES act. To qualify the business must be physically located within the county limits, employ between one and 50 employees , and have no more than $3 million in taxable receipts per year.
