Los Lunas School Board Suspended
Despite being warned about violations back in November 2020, and training in January/February 2021, some members of the Los Lunas School Board continued improper conduct.
Los Lunas Superintendent, Arsenio Romero, said in a letter, “The school board is an integral part of the success of a school district and its student outcomes. It is important that everyone is held to the highest standards.”
APS Holding Off on Promised Bonuses
APS employees were promised an additional $1,000, for full-time employees, and $500, for part-time staff, as a bonus to be paid out as “extra pay for COVID-19-related work they’ve already done.” However, it appears the school district didn’t do its homework to see if this would violate the state constitution’s anti-donation clause.
NMBC has recently shared articles that show NM in the bottom of the list for Best Schools in the US. Plus, NM ranks last in the minds of millennials as far as states where they wish to live. In part, this might be due to the poor education system here in NM. Millennials wanting to start families are looking for states where they can enjoy a healthy economy, get a great paying job, and where there are good schools. The important work of holding others accountable, especially our elected officials, is the heart of what we do at NMBC, along with helping NM businesses create success, realize their vision, and excel in accomplishing their mission.
