The NMBC has worked extensively on this case and are pleased with the positive outcome. The hearing examiner and most environmental groups agree that the plan was a good compromise between differing agendas and will benefit all New Mexicans. Read more here.

Alamogordo Meeting: A great crowd attended the Pre-Legislative Round Table Discussion hosted by the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday of this week. Providing the Round Table discussion were Senators Bill Burt and Ron Griggs, and Representatives Zachary Cook, Yvette Herrell and Rick Little. These legislators discussed legislation that may be presented in the upcoming 30 day session. NMBC President Carla Sonntag was able to talk with business owners about their concerns on high Unemployment Insurance (UI) taxes and other issues. She discussed solutions, like HB 482 that was presented in the last session, that would work to help the unemployment insurance trust fund and provide some relief to employers UI Tax rates. Thank you to Mike Espiritu and the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce for hosting this event, and to all who attended!

Year in Review: Albuquerque Business First published a “Year in Review” that reviewed national lists that evaluated New Mexico, from categories of Travel to Business. While there certainly is room for improvement in our state, it is refreshing to see change is happening. The NMBC will not settle on these rankings, though. As we come to a close on 2015, we are motivated to continue working on your behalf to not only make New Mexico better, but the best!
