Important BLM public meeting on Tuesday, February 16, in Farmington: If you care about our economy and working families who are struggling to make ends meet, your voice is needed at this meeting! NMBC encourages common sense, pro-business community members to attend the meeting on 2-16. Otherwise the BLM will only hear from the anti-fossil fuel activists that are sure to be there. Does it really matter if you stay home and only the Sierra Club shows up? You bet! Here’s why:
What Sierra Club is saying to encourage more BLM job killing rules: “Natural gas drillers exploit government loopholes, ignore decades-old environmental protections, and disregard the health of entire communities…If drillers can’t extract natural gas without destroying landscapes and endangering the health of families, then we should not drill for natural gas.”
What the BLM needs to hear in order to save jobs in NM: The proposed BLM rule is expected to cost companies in the extractive industry up to $179 million a year to comply. The EPA has already addressed the issues of concern (methane gas) with the Clean Air Act and the proposed BLM rule is redundant and unnecessary.
You CAN make a difference: Attend the BLM meeting on February 16, 2016, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at San Juan College, Room 7103, 4601 College Blvd, Farmington, NM 87402.
Don’t let the Sierra Club be the only voice in the room on 2-16-16! If you cannot attend and want to participate, contact the NMBC office at (505) 836-4223.
