Restaurants across the state yesterday joined together in pleading with the Governor to “let us serve” and find a way for business to keep their doors open and employees on the payroll. Shuttered eateries across the state posted pictures to social media of restaurant staff holding signs showing the number of jobs being affected by the closure and asking for easement of the restrictions on the industry. As many restaurants grapple with the effects of the changing restrictions, many are hanging on by a thread to remain in business at all.
According to New Mexico Restaurant Association spokeswoman Toni Balzano, the organization was aware of “hundreds” of restaurants participating across the state. NMBC has been made aware of other businesses who kept their doors open, allowin their employees to keep their jobs, provide for their families and not waste expensive food/beverage items that were in stock.
