Many will be impacted by the loss of BCBS coverage through the exchange. Even though BCBS will continue to offer policies outside of the exchange, NMBC followers have expressed concerns about access to their preferred doctors and the loss of healthcare options. NMBC encourages New Mexicans to communicate with elected and appointed officials about their concerns. Read more here – ABQ Journal 8-27-15.

Good News – NM Leads in Exports: Good news from the Lt. Governor’s Office last week: Since 2010, New Mexico has nearly quadrupled exports to Mexico and doubled overall exports. New Mexico leads the nation in export related job growth.

Teach a Man to Fish: There is a new city program that will work to help panhandlers get off the street and earn a day’s pay for a day’s work. Those who are willing will be given the chance to earn up to $9 an hour for city beautification projects. At the end of the day participants will be taken to St. Martin’s Hospitality Center where staff will help connect them with food and services for temporary shelter, substance abuse, mental health issues and housing. State House Is Taking First Step in the Impeachment Process: House Speaker Don Tripp is working to create a special legislative panel to investigate the criminal charges against Secretary of State Dianna Duran. The panel will be made up of either 8 or 10 members, with an equal number of Republican and Democratic lawmakers. Read more of the process HERE.
