The state of NM is expecting another round of stimulus money to hit its bank account this month, in the amount of $1.75 billion. Where the money is going to be spent is still up for debate. According to Micaela Fischer, program evaluation manager for the Legislative Finance Committee, “The legislative plan is still probably a good framework to start from on how to appropriate the money in the future.”

Through our Calls to Action and grassroots advocacy NMBC has been lobbying and encouraging legislators since January 2021 to use the federal stimulus monies to fill the depleted UI fund and protect businesses from increased tax rates.
