According to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in a press conference held Wednesday afternoon, some retailers will be permitted to open for business. The Governor said that retailers throughout most of the state will be allowed to reopen at 25% of their maximum capacity with churches and places of worship being permitted to operate at 10% of regular capacity. Big-box stores will remain at the 20% occupancy level.
The Governor included in her briefing the new requirement that all New Mexicans wear a face mask in public settings to help limit the spread of COVID-19. “All of us wearing masks could save thousands of lives,” she said. It’s critical “to learn to live in a COVID world.” Dine-in restaurants, gyms, salons and movie theaters are still not permitted to open under the Governor’s new changes. While the Governor has said the state does not plan to take punitive actions against those who do not wear masks in public, she did say that those individuals may face may face “stern words from a police officer.” Read more HERE.
