It's time to fix Social Security benefit rules for those who have served the public!

For decades, police officers, teachers, and firefighters have not received their full Social Security benefits. The Social Security Fairness Act aims to fix this by removing rules that reduce or eliminate their benefits. Please take less than 5 minutes to ask your NM Congressional Representatives to sign petition H. Res. 1410 and vote on these rules!

They're trying to grow their department without any oversight and using increased taxes to do it, even though the NM Environmental Board (NMED) already receives sufficient funding from legislators! The Air Quality Bureau should not grow their department and make YOU foot the bill when they have enough funding.

HJR 2 and SJR 2 are resolutions that ask voters in the next election to say 'yes' or 'no' to a constitutional amendment. These resolutions propose to amend the New Mexico Constitution to provide "environmental rights." This amendment allows individuals to sue government agencies when they feel their environmental rights have been compromised.

HB 156 is a proposed ban on firearm magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. If you own a magazine that holds more than 15 rounds, you would have to destroy your magazine or you would become a felon if the bill becomes law.

HB 6 goes further than a U.S. model approach and seeks to have the most stringent requirements in the world. This legislation is more stringent than California, a state with vastly stronger resources for compliance, and the Paris Agreement.

SB 14 Enacting the Clean Fuel Standard Act will, in reality, do little for the environment but will instead force New Mexico motorists to pay 35 cents/gallon MORE for gasoline.

Call to Action – Stop the ABQ GRT increase

March 5, 2018

Albuquerque City Residents: The Albuquerque City Council will vote tonight regarding a three-eighths of one percent (.375%) Gross Receipts Tax increase. We are asking you to show up tonight to speak against this tax increase or, in the alternative, write to the City Councilors and voice your objection.

The facts are simple. This tax increase is: 1) Detrimental to business growth and job creation; and 2) It is especially difficult for low-income and senior citizens on a fixed income. If Albuquerque wants to grow and get out of this financial crisis it is now in, the answer is to broaden the tax base by encouraging business growth and relocation, not driving it away and trying to take more from those who live and work here.
