Albuquerque voters turned down the controversial (and California funded) “Democracy Dollars” initiative that would have given vouchers redeemable for campaign funds to all “eligible city residents.” The initiative was rebutted by Albuquerque citizens in spite of it’s last minute support from Democratic presidential candidates like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Conversely, the measure to increase public financing for mayoral and city elections was approved by Albuquerque voters.
