Gov Says, ‘STOP the Attack Ad’ & The Response Was…

During election season, there are always plenty of attack ads with many being false or overexaggerated, but what about the ones that are true? One particular ad launched by the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) New Mexico 2022 PAC, against Gov. Lujan Grisham, ,caused an uproar in the Governor’s re-election campaign. The ad deals with a violent offender who threatened to kill a woman while still in prison, was released by the Governor (along with hundreds of other dangerous criminals) then killed her within four days of an early release.

Because of the content and legitimacy of the ad, the Governor ordered a TV station to stop running this political ad stating “KOB must pull this ad from the air immediately given your own admission it is false.” After checking the facts, KOB4 decided to continue airing the political ad, stating that ‘the group stands “completely behind” the spot.’

While many TV stations receive notices to take down ads and remove them altogether, it’s great to see KOB4 standing up for free speech and for standing up to a top elected official during this election season. For more information and background on this story, click HERE
