New Mexico’s U.S. Senators Reject Bills to Stiffen Penalties for Illegal Aliens and Stop Federal Money Going to Sanctuary Cities: In recent U.S. Senate vote (S 3001), New Mexico Senators Udall and Heinrich voted ‘No’ on a bill that would deny federal block grant money to ‘sanctuary’ cities or states who turn a blind eye towards immigration laws. They also voted ‘No’ on S 2193, a bill that would increase the sentences for persons convicted of illegally entering the U.S. and for illegal aliens with aggravated felony records caught in the U.S. after have been deported.

Lt. Governor John Sanchez had some pointed words for New Mexico’s Senators in a guest column published in the Albuquerque Journal on July 10, “I am deeply disappointed that 42 United States senators, including New Mexico’s Sen. Tom Udall and Sen. Martin Heinrich, allowed partisan political differences to get in the way…” Read More HERE.
