Because of that, CNBC’s annual America’s Top States for Business rankings give extra weight to state economies in 2025. New Deportation Policy Will Save Thousands of Dollars Have you ever wished that the government could operate more like a business when it comes to revenue and spending? Check this out: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing a way for illegal aliens to self-deport. While the proposal to offer a $1,000 stipend and a free plane ride to those who self-deport is controversial, DHS says it would save lots of tax dollars. The department says this will be 70% cheaper for American taxpayers, as it currently costs DHS, on average, over $17,000 to arrest, detain, and deport someone. DHS told Fox News that paying for aliens to remove themselves, even with the stipend, is anticipated to cost only around $4,500 on average. This will save taxpayers thousands of
