The New Mexico 2020 election is going to be a big one. All 112 seats on the state Senate and House will be up for grabs this year in what could be a critical shift in state politics. Multiple state House and Senate members have indicated that they will not be campaigning for reelection in 2020. We already know these abdications will set the stage for some fiercely contested races like House district 20 being vacated by Rep. Abbas Akhil and longtime serving Democratic Rep. Jim Trujillo of district 25. The deadline for major party candidates to make the primary ballot will be on March 10.
