NMBC Current Initiative: General Election Voter Scorecard

NMBC’s highly anticipated House and Senate Voter Scorecard is currently being assembled and will be available in August!

NMBC knows that job creation and a welcoming business environment will improve the quality of life for all New Mexicans. In order for that to occur, we need elected officials who will go to Santa Fe and fight for free markets, smart business laws, and increased private sector job growth. With every legislative session that occurs, NMBC is diligently recording and cataloging the votes of our elected officials to keep a close eye on the issues that matter most to businesses and how our legislators vote on them. We use the official votes cast by state legislators to aggregate a grade showing how they perform on all legislative issues affecting business in New Mexico to help voters have the information they need when heading to the polls.

But there’s more to NMBC’s scorecard than just reviewing incumbent legislators. For the general election, NMBC also sends out a survey to all candidates who make it past the primary to learn more about their positions and find out how they will vote for business issues should they be elected in November. The survey is created by NMBC and focused on determining candidates positions on everything from our tax code and employment mandates, to energy regulation and the Land Grant Permanent Fund. Using both the candidate survey and the past votes of incumbent legislators NMBC provides a comprehensive snap shot of what to expect from the names on your ballot.

Keep an eye out for the 2020 House and Senate scorecards coming in August!
