NMBC recently commented about members of Congress continuing to get paid during the current federal government shutdown. We have good news!

It has come to our attention that some of the New Mexico Congressional delegation have promised to do the right thing. Representative Steve Pearce posted on his website (before there was even an issue) that in the event of a government shutdown he would continue to work without pay. Now, other members of congress are promising the same. The New Mexico Business Coalition applauds Representative Pearce and all members of Congress who recognize how wrong it would be for them to be paid while many of their constituents are suffering and not being paid.

But if members of Congress really want to do the right thing, they need to pass a budget without raising the debt limit and work together to get America back to work.
