This’ an Illegal Executive Order…

On Friday, Sept. 9, 2023, Governor Lujan Grisham issued a 30-day executive order that prohibits open and concealed firearms on state property, public schools or public parks, with exceptions only for law enforcement and licensed security guards. This order has gotten lots of national attention, as it violates our constitutional rights and freedoms. Read more HERE.

In response to recent shooting incidents involving children, a 5-year old and a separate issue involving an 11-year old. At the conference, the governor stated that “…(the) shootings have amounted to an epidemic and that the suspension allowed for a ‘cooling-off period” for the state to figure out the best way to address gun violence.” Lawsuits against the governor have been filed by a couple of gun advocate groups in the state.

Governor Lujan Grisham defended her order on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, stating that “I have emergency powers…gun violence is an epidemic. Therefore, it’s an emergency.” While criminals with the guns is the real issue, the order violates the 2nd Amendment and hinders many freedoms that we enjoy in this country. Based on this order and the governor’s reasoning, who’s to say that up next is our freedom of religion, ability to go to houses of worship, and freedom of speech, among others?  Read the full order HERE and read about the effects of this order HERE.
