Through your tax dollars, a new film studio is coming to the city of Las Cruces! 

Currently $7 million are on the table for a California-based film studio to come to New Mexico, through state and local tax funds, and the deal seems to be ironing out very well for our state. As the deal moves forward, we’re seeing that there could be 100s of new, high-paying jobs could be available to the people of Las Cruces, including the $75 million movie studio, bringing in more exposure to our state and a greater overall economy-if everything goes according to plan.

The main issue with this deal is that there doesn’t seem to be any “claw backs” in place, so tax dollars are recovered if the jobs and/or economic benefit that’s promised for our state doesn’t work out or if the deal simply falls through. As time goes on, we’ll just have to wait and see what his means for the people of New Mexico and the citizens of Las Cruces.
