The homeless population in New Mexico is on the rise, and that isn’t a good thing! A new report to the state Legislative Finance Committee shows that homelessness has increased by 48% over the past year and impacts our state through resource allocation, an increase in crime, reduced safety for businesses and individuals, and the use of our tax dollars.
The last legislative session allocated $82 million to build affordable housing across the state. Last week, an executive order was signed that created a taskforce on the issue so that the homeless population in NM would decrease. Read more HERE.
