As the state affiliate for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), NMBC is proud to be an advocate for the manufacturing industry here in New Mexico and provide updates on national issues as well.
Jay Timmons, NAM’s President and CEO, addressed the summer conference of NAM’s Council of Manufacturing Associations in Charleston last week. In his speech to the nation’s top businesses and industry advocates, Jay addressed the current political climate and laid out the path forward for American manufacturers to step up to the plate and lead by example.
In the turmoil of politics there is often no clear answer on how to solve the substantial and diverse issues facing our country, but “if we are not advocates for individual liberty and equal opportunity, Americans will be drawn to those voices who don’t share our values of free enterprise and competitiveness. We can’t succeed when politicians start chipping away at the free enterprise system that made this country’s success possible in the first place.” Timmons implored the business community “to redouble our efforts to show Americans the good that our companies and our members are doing every day.
