Albuquerque to receive federal assistance in fighting crime epidemic

Attorney General William Barr announced on Wednesday that he will be directing additional resources and funding to assist in fighting crime in seven of the U.S.’s most dangerous cities – unfortunately Albuquerque was high on the list. This should come as no surprise as Albuquerque’s violent crime rate is 3.7 times the national average and the city recently broke its record for number of homicides this year at 77 with two weeks left in the year.

The surge in funding and federal resources is a welcome addition as Albuquerque deals with increasing rates of violence and property crime. If New Mexico wants to draw new industries, families, and businesses to our state we need to produce results that show our largest metro area is a safe place to set up shop and put down roots for a better future.
