With less than a week to go before the start of the 2020 state Legislative Session, New Mexico’s lawmakers are gearing up for the session with some already hard at work in Santa Fe. The this year’s session is only 30 days long, and with a full docket of legislation to work through, some committees are putting in the extra hours to ensure they will be prepared for the torrent of proposed legislation.
The House Appropriations and Finance Committee has scheduled over 50 hearings for state agencies this week, and the Senate Rules Committee has also been holding confirmation hearings throughout last week in preparation for the appointment of new state officials and board members.
