As trade tensions ease, coronavirus complicates commerce

Starting February 14th China will begin reducing some tariffs on U.S. goods as part of its commitment to “phase one” of President Trump’s trade agreement.  The reduction in tariffs is a positive indicator for American manufacturers that china will continue to implement the trade deal that has calmed markets after a chaotic two year trade war. U.S. service providers were also riding a five month increase in January that looks to be at risk in the wake of the coronavirus’ rapid spread. The increase in services activity was continuing to build momentum just before the outbreak of the virus, but reduced air traffic and disrupted supply chains will affect growth in the long term.
