NM Meets Criteria For Reopening, Time To Move The Goalpost

Yesterday, KOAT Target 7 investigative reporter T.J. Wilham crunched the numbers which show New Mexico has hit all ‘gating criteria’ defined by the state. This follows the addition of yet another new requirement defined by the Governor just last week. View the news report HERE.

NMBC President Carla Sonntag says, “The data is telling me it is time to go, we don’t need to be shut down any longer. I think she should immediately open the state up from where it is now.”

The response? KOAT asked the state and they say they are using a different number that is based on the date the actual test was taken, and they could not provide the number.

NMBC has consistently encouraged the Governor to have a clear plan to reopen our state for business. The Governor has says her shut down decisions are ‘science and data’ based. Gating criteria (goal posts) held up as ‘must be met’ is meaningless when the the goalposts are randomly moved and the public is not allowed to see the data.

With voting for the 2020 General election starting soon, NMBC encourages New Mexicans to pay attention to those elected officials who govern the state. All state Senators and Representatives are up for election and we hope their focus is on the success and wellbeing of all New Mexicans. More voter information, including a Legislative Scorecard, HERE.
