America’s Top States for Business 2025: The full rankings To rank America’s Top States for Business in 2025, CNBC scored all 50 states on 135 metrics in 10 broad categories of competitiveness. The fundamentals of the study, now in its 19th year, are the same as they have always been, identifying the factors companies consider year after year when making site selection decisions, and that states pitch in their efforts to woo business. Each category is weighted based on how frequently states use them as a selling point in economic development marketing materials, with Economy No. 1 this year. New in 2025, we have added metrics to gauge the states’ risks from a trade war and a shrinking federal budget. We have also enhanced some of our Infrastructure metrics to determine how the

These are America’s 10 weakest state economies most at risk in a recession

These are America’s 10 weakest states economies most at risk in the recession In trying to attract businesses, states are playing to corporate leaders’ economic anxieties, marketing themselves as safe havens. Because of that, CNBC’s annual America’s Top States for Business rankings give extra weight to state economies in 2025. The results show that some states are especially vulnerable to a downturn, especially if national economic conditions worsen. The odds of a recession may be falling, but states appear to be betting that corporate leaders are still nervous. Because the Top States overall methodology prioritizes the factors that states are talking about most, the Economy category carries the most weight in this year’s competitiveness study. New Deportation Policy Will Save Thousands of Dollars Have you ever wished that the government could operate more like a business when it comes to revenue and spending? Check this out: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing a way for illegal aliens to self-deport. While the proposal to offer a $1,000 stipend and a free plane ride to those who self-deport is controversial, DHS says it would save lots of tax dollars. Progressive Politicians Fail the Education System

Progressively Regressive to New Mexico So-called “progressive” elected officials have failed our children. Every year, progressive legislators in New Mexico push for more money for Early Childhood Education. Legislators who are moderate and conservative push back, rightfully calling for more accountability and better results.  New Mexico’s early education students score the lowest nationwide on the National Assessment of Educational Progress test. Throwing more money at New Mexico’s troubled education system is not the answer. Unfortunately, this concept is lost on progressive politicians who continue to create and support legislation that wastes taxpayer dollars by enacting dead-end solutions. This is an unnecessary burden on taxpayers and business
