In addition to the job interviews that are posted at www.nmbizcoalition.org, over the next few days the NMBC will provide voters information to help make informed decisions at the polls.

New Mexico’s Court of Appeals – An Important Statewide Race: The contested race for NM Court of Appeals has J. Miles Hanisee, who has been a judge on the NM Court of Appeals for three years, being challenged by Kerry C. Kiernan, a private practice attorney. In order to relay the differences between Judge Hanisee and Mr. Kiernan, the NMBC found that the Albuquerque Journal as well as the Las Cruces Sun News endorsed Judge J. Miles Hanisee. To support their endorsement, the Albuquerque Journal commented, “On the Appeals Court, Hanisee has been a panelist on more than 700 appellate decisions and written more than 100 opinions.”

The decisions made by judges serving on NM Court of Appeals are important to the overall wellbeing of our state and affect everything from employment issues to defining marriage. The NMBC encourages voters to look at qualifications and experience of the candidates, not party affiliation.
