Judge Awards Drunk Employee 90% of Worker’s Comp Claim

Drunk Las Cruces Employee Awarded 90% Worker's Comp Benefits by a NM Judge: This is not science fiction, it really happened a few years ago in New Mexico. HERE is a brief on the case. The NM Court of Appeals Judge said contradictory employee injury laws were the problem. So, pro-business members of the legislature introduced bills to fix the drunk/drugged worker injury issue. Other members of the legislature, however, blocked these reforms. Eventually, revised worker's comp laws that help (but do not fix) worker compensation issues have been passed and signed into law. This example, however, highlights the importance of electing judges and legislators who will work to improve the business environment in NM.
