BREAKING NEWS: NMBC named State Affiliate for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM):
Washington, D.C., September 14, 2015 – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) welcomes the New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) as the association’s newest State Associations Group (SAG) member. The NAM’s SAG program consists of 51 independent state manufacturers, business and industry associations. With the NMBC’s membership, the NAM has excellent representation in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
NMBC is pleased to be working with NAM in opposition of the move by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would tighten federal ozone standards. To help educate New Mexicans on the negative impact the proposed EPA ozone regulations would have on our state, the following ad is out on local television stations and via social media:

NM was one of the states that 'opted in' and chose to set up an ACA state exchange. Now, several state programs including Minnesota, Maryland, Vermont and Oregon are experiencing problems that affect policy holders. Hawaii completely shut their state exchange down. Here in New Mexico, Blue Cross Blue Shield Here in New Mexico, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) announced it would pull out of the state health exchange beginning January 1 of 2016. After losing more than $19.2 million, BCBS requested a 51.6 percent average premium increase that was denied. BCBS felt there was no alternative other than to pull out of the state exchange program.

A local debate over the future operations of the coal-fired San Juan Generating Stations near Farmington, New Mexico has been the center of discussion on renewable energy versus fossil fuels. President Carla Sonntag of the coalition stated the need for a constructive conversation involving compromise but the opposing side is taking on an all-or-nothing approach.
In Farmington, New Mexico on August 18, 2015, protestors lined the gates of Merrion Oil and Gas, as members of the New Mexico Business Coalition met at a summit about fossil fuel opposition.
