Start the year with a BASH!

The 2017 New Mexico legislative session will be starting soon and based on the bills that have been pre-filed, elected officials are full of ideas on how to change our lives through legislation. Do YOU want to see more regulation, increased taxes and more money taken from our permanent funds for an education system that needs a complete overhaul before it needs more money? From what we've heard, the answer is a resounding 'No!'

NMBC recently conducted a survey, asking for your input on topics such as minimum wage increases, the state budget, addressing crime, tax reform and more. We got some amazing responses and thoughtful feedback that we'll be sharing at the BASH (Business and Social Hour) on January 12.

Crucial Juncture

The New Year is only a few days away and the excitement of 2017 brings with it new challenges.

New Mexico is at a crucial juncture. Are we going to stand for free markets that will diversify and grow jobs or will politicians control and limit our state’s economy with ‘tax and spend’ policies?

Some in our Capitol seek to make New Mexicans rely more on government. They work each day to expand programs that require citizens to bend to the will of politicians and bureaucrats in Santa Fe or Washington, D.C.

At the New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) we work for you.

NMBC Fights Washington D.C. Job Killing Regs, and We Won!

NMBC was Proud to Take a Stand with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) recently in a court case against a Department of Labor overtime rule that would have taken effect on December 1. Along with a coalition of other associations and 21 states, NMBC supported the NAM Manufacturers’ Center for Legal Action (MCLA) in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The great news for New Mexicans who are already struggling with some of the highest unemployment rates in the nation is that we succeeded in delaying, if not stopping implementation of the job killing rule!

New Study Shows Manufacturing Demand for Natural Gas Will Grow

NAM Study Shows Positive Natural Gas Impacts in New Mexico and Across U.S.

Washington, D.C. and Albuquerque, NM, May 3, 2016 – Today, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Center for Manufacturing Research and IHS Economics released a new comprehensive study that reveals how natural gas has strengthened manufacturing and encouraged U.S. manufacturing growth and employment and highlights the positive impact to communities around the United States. New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC), the State Affiliate Group (SAG) for the NAM echos the importance of the NAM findings as manufacturers in New Mexico use natural gas for fuel, such as drying, melting, machine drive and space heating, and as a feedstock in refining, chemicals and primary metals sectors. Domestic natural gas has transformed the U.S. economy, made our companies more competitive, created jobs and put money back in the pockets of working Americans.
